Fire Alarm Systems for Restaurants
Inspection, installation, repair and monitoring for restaurant fire alarm systems across greater Sacramento — including the hood suppression interface.
Fire alarm systems in restaurants
Restaurants are hard on fire alarm equipment and heavily inspected, which is an awkward combination.
Kitchen heat, airborne grease and constant cleaning shorten the life of anything mounted nearby. Detectors placed near a cook line or a dish pit will need attention sooner than the same device in an office. Meanwhile restaurants get looked at more often than most occupancies, so problems surface as correction notices with dates attached.
Restaurants are on the list of business types Solution One has always worked with, and they come up across our whole service area — from Folsom's Historic District to the Sacramento commercial corridors.
What is specific to restaurants
What we deal with in this building type:
- The hood suppression interface. The kitchen suppression system needs to signal the fire alarm panel correctly. This is a common item on correction notices, and it is the part that most often has never been tested end to end.
- Grease and heat. Devices near the cook line degrade faster and cause nuisance alarms as they go.
- Cleaning damage. Pressure washing and degreasing find their way into anything not properly rated for the location.
- Frequent inspection. More scrutiny than most occupancies means less room for a deferred repair.
- Tenant build-outs. Restaurant spaces turn over, and each new kitchen layout changes what the fire alarm has to interface with.
- Tight scheduling. Testing has to fit between service periods.
VERIFY (fire side): the hood-suppression-to-panel interface description above is deliberately general. Confirm the scope split between the fire alarm and suppression trades before publishing anything more specific.

Questions
Do you handle the kitchen hood suppression system?
We handle the fire alarm side — making sure the suppression system signals the panel correctly and that the interface actually works when tested. Tell us what suppression system you have and we will tell you exactly what falls to us and what does not.
Our kitchen detector goes off when the cook line is busy. Is that normal?
Common, but not something to accept. It usually means the device is at the end of its life, or that the detection type or placement is wrong for a kitchen environment. Repeated nuisance alarms train staff to ignore the system, which is the real hazard. See fire alarm repair.
Can you test around our service hours?
Yes. Mid-morning or mid-afternoon between service periods is usually workable, and we would rather fit your schedule than have testing rushed. Tell us your hours.
